Overview
Location: Mason, MI 48854
Pay: $28.00 – $31.00/hour
Schedule: Full-time, day and night shifts available
Operate trains and move rail cars safely and efficiently to meet customer needs. Perform switching, loading/unloading support, and train makeup/breakdown at yards and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate locomotives per FRA rules, train orders, and signals
- Inspect equipment and track conditions
- Communicate with dispatch and crew via radio
- Switch, couple/uncouple cars, and operate related equipment
- Ensure accurate car placement and movement
- Maintain situational awareness and rail safety
- Follow all company and safety policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years’ conductor/engineer experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- 49 CFR Part 240/242 Certification (required)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety and compliance
Physical Requirements
- Lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Climb, crawl, kneel, and work in tight/confined spaces
- Ride outside rail equipment; walk long distances on uneven terrain
- Work in all weather conditions, around moving trains/equipment, high voltage, and loud noise
